Quick guide to using our website and terracotta tiles

 

We supply three types of terracotta each in a range of colours and sizes, including stair tiles and skirtings:

 

Handmade: Made the Traditional way, clay put into a mould, then sun dried for up to 2 weeks and then kiln dried for approx 48 hours.

Handmade characteristics: Rustic appearance, textured surface, irregular edges, easy to cut and lay, and easy to seal. Best for indoor use as not frostproof, they can be used sealed outside but in sheltered areas and not fully exposed with a good water run off. For use on both walls and floors.

 

Machine made: Modern methods of liquid clay at different consistencies in to moulds and mechanically dried on conveyor belts.

Machine made characteristics: Straight edges, smooth surface, easy to cut and lay, and easy to seal. Best for indoor use as not frostproof. For use on walls and floors.

 

Stoneware: Stoneware is made from a particular clay which is fired at a higher temperature of 1,200°C. This results in a more durable material, with a denser, stone-like quality. Our stoneware is made with the most modern and technically advanced materials and methods. The finished product will be waterproof and unlike other terracotta, does not need to be sealed.

Stoneware characteristics: Straight edges, textured non slip surface, durable and suitable for heavy foot traffic and even public areas. UV protected, No sealing needed, perfect for indoor use also Frostproof for outdoor use on patios and pathways etc. with No future maintenance needed.
